Teach language in a foreign country?

Jayson Brod: Hello Adam please see this article on teaching English overseas: Teaching English Overseas â€" What You Need to KnowHere's the link: http://busyteacher.org/2978-teaching-english-overs...This should help....Show more

Patrick Bitsui: stevefwb, I don't know Mandarin, it has to be a country that (1) speaks one of languages and (2) learns at least one of those languages

Maryland Gareau: First off you don't need to speak the language of the country you're teaching in. You'll speak English only in the classroom and translating is not used any more.Second, you'll need the right qualifications. Almost always that's a degree and a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate to get a visa and work. The TEFL certificate can be taken either in-house or online at your own pace which is a much cheaper option (see http://icalweb.com).Finally, where to go? Well if you want to teach in the UK you'll need good qualifications and experience. Most first ! time teachers go into Europe somewhere - Greece, Spain, Italy, etc and this is no problem since you've got a UK passport. Or you could go elsewhere. Take a look at the link below which is an excellent introduction to getting into teaching....Show more

Caterina Yeargan: you may go to canada.. there's a lot of demand for french and spanish speakers there.. and this country pays high for it.. if you go to china.. there's demand but they will not pay you well...

Davina Shindler: there are companies that teach english in china.

Willie Tun: You've been set on teaching abroad since you were 4?! Dayum.Well, I have taught English in China, Quebec, France and Japan, and I have done American accent training in India. When I took teacher training, I was told that teaching English (ESL) is like having a passport to the world, and it's true. I just have to pick the country I want to spend a year in (with a few limits), and then I send CVs around by email. In some c! ases, they pay for your flight and housing (Middle East and so! me countries in East Asia). In other cases they don't (Europe and South America). High demand and (relatively) high pay: Korea and Saudi Arabia at the moment. It's likely to change by the time you're ready to work. You're more likely to find ESL work abroad than you are to find it in the UK. The reason is that in the UK there are many more like you to compete with. In Korea you are a sought after minority. Shaun Rapkowicz: One of my friends is currently traveling the world following this dream, so i wouldn't say its just a childhood fantasy. Teaching English alone he has been able to travel to Brazil, Thailand and Japan. There are a number of ways to get into this line of work I myself have recently been researching how to start in this line of work and i found this really useful guide http://bit.ly/fe0zT4They also provide the best places for each year to travel to and teach in. If you're serious about this dream! i definitely think the site is worth checking out....Show more
