Catheryn Barringer: I am really sorry that you are depressed and that people who have no idea what they are talking about are answering your question. No you do not need to be taught by a certified teacher for homeschooling anywhere in the US. In NY, you will need to be tested yearly by a certified teacher or other qualified person or be evaluated by a certified teacher or other qualified person. Here is the A to Z page specific to NY:http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/regional/NewYo...Also check out the beginning to homeschool information:http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/For reviews I like Cathy Duffy's site in addition to the reviews at at to Z:http://www.cathyduffyreviews.com/ETA: Cherokee: You transferrd from one public school into another public school. Visions for Education is a public charter school in California. From their website:Visions In Education is a tuition-free public charter school that provides a high quality standards-based education to home school fa! milies (K-12) and independent study high school students (9-12).http://www.viedu.org/...Show more

Tricia Dossous: please i really need help, i really cant live like this anymore.
Dallas Bartolini: You have to have parental consent,! and the person that teaches you must be certified to teach ho! me school.
Pattie Vold: You need to find someone who is certified to advise you. If you have a certified adult, they will know what to do.
Ricardo Rozelle: Well, i am personally in home school, so i can give you a good explanation. First, you have to get all your transcripts, documents, etc from the school your going to right now. Get your parents, and the paperwork, bring them to the home school you wish to go to (I go to Visions in Education). The school will see if your eligible to get into it. Getting into home school, is like getting into a good college sometimes. My home school has A LOT of people trying to get in. So they wont just let anybody in. After you are accepted into the school, they will make you take a English, and Math test. The test is about 30 minutes, to a hour long, depending on you. They will give you a ID card, and BAM! Your in home school. You get a teacher, and they will meet with you every 2 weeks at like a Library, or a Starbucks, etc! . Somewhere where you both can sit and talk. They will help you, they will give you a grade report, etc. But let me tell you something, home school is not all its cracked up to be. Yes, you get to sleep in, but that is the only benefit. Home schooled kids have 3x more work, then kids that go to public school. You know how a regular school day is around 6 hours? You will spend 8-9 hours doing your work. I have even had 3 essays in one day! You have to be responsible, and do your work everyday! You will have temptations to go on the computer, play games, hang out with friends, but you cant! If you fall behind, you will stay behind! Some teachers are *****, and wont let you do make up work. But thankfully, my teacher is very cool! Hell, me and him play Xbox Live together sometimes lol. We play a lot of Halo haha. But I'm just lucky.Good Luck!EDIT:The teacher is provided for you, and its free. Also you have a choice between, books, and doing online work....Show more
