is home school good for my child?

Kiersten Clayburn: Yes it's good because she can work at her level and pace. But she will be missing out on being with other kids her own age , just remember that. How about moving her up a grade or two. That way she will find the work challenging and still make friends.

Saran Stealy: I'm somebody who was homeschooled until just this year, I'm now in high school and I think that homeschooling has done some good, and some bad for me. Like somebody else said, I think that my social skills are not up to par with other students. It isn't too bad, but it's a little worse. Also, I feel like I've missed out on Middle School... there isn't much that's good about it, but I feel sort of left out... everyone went, and I didn't.. it's that kind of thing. If you are going to homeschool your kid, make sure that they want to, and ask him/her if they want to continue with it the next year... it should be up to them.Hope this helps :)...Show more

Nestor Klan: ok im in home scho! oling its easy and im in a higher grade than most people my age because i can work at my own pace, im not in school at the moment because i had a baby. im 15 and have been home schooled for about a year now. its fun. and dont listen to other people who say your kid will have no social life because they are wrong. 1: your kid should already have friends from the school they just got taken out of.2: if you home school them online (like what i do) then there is a list of other students on that home schooling site of all the other student who are in the same course as you that you can talk to (TO HAVE FRIENDS!) your kid will be safe from other kids who are some what hurtful with language too because the teacher reads everything your kid types to other students. So over all home schooling is awesome and i would say yes that it is a good idea!...Show more

Davina David: If she was really advanced she would have been skipped grade levels. Why take her out? Home schooling leads! to lonelinessYou should be asking her more than people online! .

Hal Rouse: I doubt it from your spelling!

Betsey Copp: It depends so much on your own commitment level. If you are willing to spend the time to teach her and also educate yourself, then yes, it is a great option. Children can progress as quickly or as slowly as they need to in order to really grasp the subject. They can also pursue things that really fascinate them without neglecting the basics. Some creative home school parents put together unit studies that focus on one thing - horses for instance - and teach everything from that topic. Horses in history, literature, science, etc. Some people have mentioned staying in school and just skipping a grade. This might work for a student who excels in all subjects, but what about the student who is outstanding in one area, but struggles in another? Also, the student who skips a grade must compete with older students not only in academics, but also socially and physically....Show more

Mark Villifana: A lot dep! ends on you, your family, how you approach education with her. It can be great as long as you do things-- it doesn't have to be traditional, as long as it is stimulating and engaging. Get involved in a variety of activities and interests and teach her the important basic skills. She will progress fine.

Elsie Resner: No. Children that are homeschooled fail to develop necessary social skills that are just as important in life as intellectual knowledge. If she is doing well, talk to her and see if she wants to go to a more advanced school.
