Lupe Sancen: You don't really need to part of the household to get insured or a rider to your mom or your dad. and your dad cannot insured the car that is in your moms name. So it has to be in your name.Thanks

It could be registered as Micky Mouse and you could get insurance.No you do not have to be a member of a household to be on insurance.If a company is telling you this it is there policy, NOT law.When I turned 16 and got my first car my dad payed for the car and my mom paid insurance. Forest Duttinger: The name on the title of the car, has to be the name on the policy. So if the car is in your mom's name, the insurance has to be, also. Your mom is right.You do NOT have to be a household member to be listed on his policy, and if! you EVER drive his cars, you should be listed. So.
