what do you do for yard work?

Tana Dumoulin: Pay a bunch of Mexicans.

Ruby Martis: You can do what ever services you know how to do in most areas some may require permits (with the exception of chemical applications). These do require licensing or permits to charge for and apply to others properties than your own. For starters mowing, edging, line trimming and power blowing. You could add mulching, weeding, leveling, topping and general clean. Also watering and caring for plants usually for folks that are away or to busy.Other options are planting (they supply plants) planting you supply (requires a permit or license in most areas), These services are regarded as lawn and bed maintenance services. You are supplying a service. To do more like sell products, do design, installations, sprinkler systems, consultation, etc falls under Landscape Contracting. This requires more know how permits or licensing. To do chemical applications is generally a different license....Show more

Georgia Dees: ! Use a crabgrass treatment product. This should be done in the early spring to prevent the initial emergence of the crabgrass. Often waiting to long to apply these products will make them ineffective. These products can often be purchased online at a discounted price. Label instructions on these products will give recommendations for application.

Maritza Ebanks: Yard work requires a lot of knowledge.Fr instance, say you wanted to correct drainage... you would have to understand how water flows.Say that you wanted to pull weeds... There are a lot of plants that aren't weedy. Recognizing the plants that the home owner may have deliberately planted, isn't the same as pulling everything that isn't a bedding plant. And what about those rare natives that might've shown up on their own? Some of those are far more valuable than anything purchased at a big box store.Say that you wanted to cut grass... do you know the different heights to cut the different types of grass? Do! you know enough to stay off the lawn when it's too wet? too d! ry? Do you understand about cutting the grass from a different direction each time? And those specimen plantings in the middle of the yard... Weed eaters get away from you... causing injuries to those valuable trees and shrubs...And then there's the people that think they can maintain a flower bed with a weed-eater... No.And say that you wanted to fertilize the turf... different grass types require different amounts... at different times, and I've seen entire lawns killed by fertilizer application. better not to do it at all...You should consider taking classes, or finding employment in the biz, or both....Show more
