Augustus Sarria: its a credit card that you put money on so you are PREPAYINGall visa/mastercard/amex gift cards are prepaid cards as wellso you wont be getting bills in the mails
Ira Porietis: A prepaid card has nothing to do with credit. It is only a gift card with a visa, mastercard, amex, or discover logo and can be used as if it was one of these but only up to a certain limit. You can register it online with whatever info you want to so it has no way to make sure it is actually connected to you so it can not help build credit. If you are looking to build credit, get together a few hundred dollars, $400 is the usual minimum, and go to your local bank. Speak to a banker about a secured credit card. They will take your money & give you a credit card with a balance around your deposit. Some will charge fees to begin with, some will wait for purchases to be made. This is an actual credit card with bills and due dates. If you don't pay on time, they will (1) ! take the payment from your deposit, reducing your available credit, (2) charge you a late fee, again reducing your available credit & (3) report to the credit bureau(s) they regularly report to, hurting your credit. The best thing to do is make small purchases regularly & pay off the balance in full monthly....Show more

Travis Colomb: since you are putting money on it to spend and not really receiving money then paying it back, it will not build your credit, you are not really receiving "credit"
